The 2009 provides an excellent entry into bar code scanning at a reasonable price. Simply put the touch scanner on the bar code. After pressing the trigger on the bottom side of the device, the scanner decodes the bar code information automatically and transmits it to the host. Its 80mm scan width ensure that the scanner can read all commercial bar codes, such as EAN codes, PZN, ISBN, etc.
The scanner is available with three connection types: Keyboard wedge, USB and serial interface. The keyboard wedge version is simply connected between PC and keyboard. All read data is sent unchanged to the keyboard interface and appears on the screen as if typed on the keyboard. The USB version works in a similar way: The data appears exactly at the point of the screen where the cursor is located. Both versions do not require additional software changes (besides the USB drivers) and can therefore be used with any application. If the scanner is connected via the serial interface, the software has to poll the RS232 interface actively before data can be processed internally.
In order to achieve optimum results under all conditions, the 2009 comes with a configuration manual that helps you to adjust the scanner to various environmental conditions. No programming experience is required to configure the scanner. Simply choose the desired option and programme it by scanning the respective programming bar code. Use this feature to turn various bar code types on or off, configure RS232 parameters, adjust the scanner to different languages, or configure other options.
