With High Definition broadcast fast approaching, Panasonic's LM-BR50DE Blu-ray disc has been launched to satisfy the needs of those who are looking for high quality, high definition recording.

Blu-ray discs are able to record and playback extensive quantities of high definition video and audio, as well as photos, data and other video content. A single-layer Blu-ray disc, which is the same size as a DVD, can hold up to a staggering 50 GB of data (in comparison to a single layer DVD which holds 4.7GB) - that's more than four hours of high-definition video or about 26 hours of standard video with no loss of quality.

Blu-ray discs enable you to instantly skip to any spot on the disc and create, edit or re-order programmes and play lists, thus enabling easy navigation around the discs. Panasonic's LM-BR50DE write once discs uses an inorganic material which is unaffected by light, thus ensuring safe and long-lasting storage of cherished keepsakes.

Adding to this durability, Panasonic Blu-ray discs use an advanced spin coating process technology to form the cover layer with extremely uniform thickness. This is the key element for stable and premium data recording. The discs also have a hard coated cover layer, which is a newly developed surface-treatment technology.
