With the 5-BAY RAID Box, Sharkoon offers an external hard drive housing that supports RAID mode 0, 1/10, 3, 5 and JBOD. The different RAID modes can be quickly and easily adjusted through a switch on the housing rear side.
SATA hard drives can be easily inserted and exchanged thanks to the fast-swap mechanism. Cooling of the installed hard drives occurs through two fans on the backside. The 5-BAY RAID Box can connect to compatible devices through either the USB3.0 or eSATA port.

- kompaktes Gehäuse mit eingebautem Netzteil, hohe Übertragungsgeschwindigkeiten, Festplatteninstallation ohne Schraubendreher
- SMART-Werte auslesen nicht ganz ausgereift
Praktisch ist, dass die Festplattenmontage ohne Schraubendreher funktioniert: reinschieben, Klappe schließen, fertig. Zum Öffnen benötigt man den beigelegten "Schlüssel" (hat vorne ein kleines gleichseitiges Dreieck; deswegen ist der Begriff Schlüssel leicht übertrieben).
Auf der Rückseite lässt sich der RAID-Modus einstellen oder auswählen, dass alle Festplatten einzeln als Laufwerke erscheinen sollen (Clear-RAID Modus). Außerdem befindet sich dort der Netzschalter, der auch vorne am Gerät evtl. praktisch gewesen wäre.
