- Gute Funktion, schön leicht, preiswert
- Unzureichende Dokumentation der vorhandenen MacOS-Unterstützung, Haptik wirkt eher billig, recht voluminös
Obwohl in der Beschreibung bei computeruniverse als auch auf der Schachtel korrekt angegeben ist, dass der Stick neben Windows auch unter MacOS verwendet werden kann, fehlt im Quick-Installation-Heft und auf der CD jeglicher Hinweis hierauf. Auf der Webseite von Trendnet.com (auch auf Deutsch verfügbar) lässt sich dann der MacOS-Treiber sowie eine dürftige englische Installationsanleitung als PDF herunterladen.
Die Installation selber ist dann kein Problem, nach dem Einstecken des Stick öffnet sich der Netzwerkkonfigurator automatisch und der Stick kann in ein vorhandenes WLAN eingebunden werden.
Der Stick hat eine glatte klavierlackartige schwarze Plastikumhüllung, auf der jeder Fingerabdruck sofort zu sehen ist. Er ist sehr leicht, mit 6,5 x 3 x 1 cm eher groß.
Die Funktion scheint mir tadellos, die Geschwindigkeit ist merklich besser als beim eingebauten g-Adapter im Macbook. Fazit: Funktioniert gut, tatsächlich schnelle Netzwerkverbindung. - Unzureichende Dokumentation der vorhandenen MacOS-Unterstützung. - Die Haptik wirkt eher billig, dafür aber schön leicht.

- Wahlweise mit 2,4 oder 5 GHz verwendbar, Hohe Datenrate, Gute Reichweite, auch über mehrere Stockwerke hinweg
- Ungeschickte Bauform verdeckt benachbarte Anschlüsse, Beiliegendes Kabel ist nur wenige Zentimeter lang
Der Vorteil dabei: Während das 2,4 GHz Band hoffnungslos überlaufen ist (ich finde hier 11 verschiedene WLAN-Netze), zudem ist das 2,4 GHz Band störanfällig, da sich in diesem Frequenzbereich auch Garagentorantriebe und ähnliches tummeln. Das erst seit kurzem freigegebene 5 GHz Band ist hingegen weitgehend leer.
Der Stick bietet einen hohen Durchsatz, der knapp unter der maximal möglichen Netto-Datenrate liegt. Es reicht auch - mit geringfügig reduzierter Datenrate - für zwei Geschosse Abstand zwischen PC und Router.
Einen Stern Abzug gibts dafür, dass der Stick auf Grund seiner wenig geschickten Bauform gleich mehrere Anschlüsse blockiert, wenn man ihn nicht mit dem beiliegenden Mini-Kabel verwendet.
Fazit: Dualbandfähiger WLAN-Stick zum günstigen Preis.
