The battery grip D-BG4 is powered by either a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery or six AA-size batteries. Since it supplements the camera's battery as an additional power source, the number of recordable images is greatly increased. To facilitate vertical-position shooting, this grip features extra shutter-release button, preview lever, electronic dials, AE-lock button, Green button and AF button. It also provides the same dustproof, weather- and cold-resistant construction as the camera body itself.

Der Batteriegriff kommt in einem Karton mit Bedienungsanleitung.Überrascht war ich von den Einsätzen. Es findet sich im Lieferumfang jeweils ein Einsatz für den Standard Akku D-Li90 und ein Einsatz für 6 Stück AA-Akkus. Der Batteriegriff ist fast selbsterklärend. An die Kamera geschraubt und los geht es. Einfacher kann es eigentlich nicht sein. Der Batteriegriff funktioniert ohne Probleme an der K-7. Sehr gut. Der BG hat alle wichtigen Bedienelemente, die man für das Hochformat benötigt:Auslöseknopf, Grüne Taste, Knöpfe für ISO, Belichtugnskorrektur, AE-L und den AF.Auch beide Einstellräder sind vorhanden. Der BG ist intuitiv nutzbar, man merkt quasi fast nicht, das man die Einstellungen am BG statt an der Kamera vornimmt, da fast alle Tasten an den gleichen Stellen sind. Mit dem BG-4 liegt die Kamera nun wirklich perfekt in der Hand. Der kleine Finger greift nicht mehr ins Leere und im Hochformat hat man die Kamera ebenfalls sicher in der Hand. Der Batteriegriff kommt eigentlich fast immer zum Einsatz. Fazit: Meine Erwartungen an den Batteriegriff wurden voll erfüllt.
